Seemingly simple terms, "homeless" and "unemployed" have surprisingly broad meanings. Some homeless sleep in a shelter, vehicle, or share quarters with other adults; others choose the independence of the street. They are working unemployed — they just don't earn a living wage or have a steady job. Some prefer that freedom over a 40-hour job, others want to achieve the norm.
Homelessness reaches all around King County — despite the region's affluence. Ideas abound on how to address the issue. Ours is simple: Give those who want to improve their situation the means and the opportunity.
